The Planning Institute of Jamaica is seeking to identify a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position of Senior Demographer in its Social Policy, Planning and Research Division. 

Main Responsibilities 

Prepare analytical/ position papers on demographic issues for planning, programme monitoring and decision-making.
Provide technical advice on the national demographic situation re population growth, size and distribution and related aspects.
Utilize state of the art models and techniques for preparing demographic estimates and projections.
Provide demographic and population policy advise for project and programme development, policy formulation, monitoring and evaluation.
Prepare the population chapter for the Economic and Social Survey Jamaica (ESSJ) and articles for other PIOJ's publications


Excellent oral and written communication skills with specific emphasis in technical writing
Ability to work effectively with a team
Strong Interpersonal skills 


Qualifications: Master's degree in Demography or Social Sciences with specialization in Demography, with a minimum of 3 year's experience in development/monitoring /evaluation of public policy and/or conducting policy relevant research.
