Reporting to a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of Agriculture & Fisheries, the Director General exercises responsibility for the coordination, leadership and management of JACRA. Responsibility is also exercised for the regulation of the agricultural commodities sector in keeping with the provisions of the related legislative framework.

The incumbent is required to create strategic linkages with stakeholders including private and public sector agencies and to promote and maintain environmental sustainability while regulating the sector.

There is the requirement to provide specialist advice to the Hon. Minister of Industry Commerce Agriculture & Fisheries and the Permanent Secretary on all matters of policy with respect to the operations and development of the agricultural commodities sector.

A solid academic background and qualification in Management or Business Administration with at least 10-15 years of senior management experience.
An energetic, confident communicator at all levels, who is straight forward and consistent, with excellent conceptual, listening and relationship-building skills along with a demonstrated ability to direct change.
A proven ability to build, manage and motivate teams within and across organizations and within a unionized environment.
The capability to develop and foster supportive networks within and outside of the Jamaican agricultural industry.
Knowledge of the commodities industries and training in Agriculture, Engineering or Law would be an asset.
